Challenge No 4!
Silly season has arrived for the Challenge. Last week the team really got down to business. The Silverstar Mountain Bike Race on Saturday proved to be one to remember. For the guys it began on Friday at the promotional stand during race registration. Twyne, our marketing team, decided to really step it up a gear. Caps, T-Shirts and stickers were on sale, and boy, did Krugersdorp come to the party in multitudes! By Saturday morning (race day) when the team arrived, Silverstar was awash with Challenge T-shirts, caps and various other types of colourful marketing items. The public supported us in a big way, so here’s a heartfelt hug to all of you!
For Wayne Stanick the day turned extra special when he won the mountain bike – sponsored by Cycling News – in the lucky draw.
The race commenced just after 8am and it soon became evident that Letshego had been training VERY HARD. It was moving to see such a petite person negotiating the rough technical sections with such ease and even better to see her take out most of the guys on the climbs.
Challenge No 3 definitely represented a turning point. I think the team has finally realized that we are making progress, judging by the public outpouring of support. Moreover, the good wishes streaming in during the ride truly lifted the spirits. The challengers traversed the entire route in 2 groups, making the 3-hour test a little easier through the camaraderie of the teammates. Everyone completed the challenge in great time and again it was so heartening to see the smiles and listen to the cheering as the guys came in.
Thank you everybody, this has been the best Challenge by far!
This week the team will be at Pelindaba near the dam for Challenge no 4, the Outsurance Outride. This is a fast route which promises lots of action. After last week’s triumph the guys are reinvigorated and rearing to get out there and spread the word about the 14 Check Challenge.
